When We’re Getting On the book was slated for release in 2010, Kaelan felt strongly that the initial promotional tour of the novel had to be thematically consistent with its story. So Kaelan decided to take the book, from Los Angeles to Seattle, on a bicycle. During the trip he also planned to forgo as many modern technologies as possible: no computers, phones, televisions, or cars. Ideally, he would re-create the conditions of We’re Getting On and test the tenets of its regressive hypothesis.
“A sharp meditation on modern self-destruction.”
“We’re Getting On is a wonderful project by a great writer with a very unique and refreshing vision.”
“Kaelan is a major new American talent.”
